Day 7 Wednesday 23 May 2007
Blake Mere to Maesbury Marsh on the Montgomery canal. Opened the curtains this morning to the most beautiful view across the mere. We sat out having breakfast watching the great crested grebe, kingfisher and heron on the lake. It’s so peaceful here, we could have stayed all day. We got to the Montgomery canal just after 12.00. You have to book with British Waterways to go onto the Montgomery canal as it is a site of special scientific interest and the number of boats allowed to cruise it is limited. The locks at the entrance are only open between 12.00 and 2.00. It’s a lovely quiet, peaceful canal with spectacular views of the hills. We went to the end of the navigable part of the canal, turned round and moored near the Navigation pub, where we had a delicious meal with Cathy’s sister and her boyfriend.

Hope you registered the kingfisher at Waterscape"
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the boaters blogs community
Hi epiphany. I didn't know about registering the kingfishers on waterscape. I will have to check it out and register all the ones we have seen.
